Synopsis

This course focuses on control theory and its application to linear/nonlinear systems. Main content includes the basic theory of linear/nonlinear control systems, linear control theory, Lyapunov method and latest results on disturbance rejection control, sliding mode control and finite time control, etc. Combined with the practical engineering problems, the nonlinear systems’ control theory will be introduced systematically from the most basic to the latest research results.

The course is suitable for graduate students, especially for students who is engaged in or will be engaged in the study of nonlinear control field. The establishment of the course will reinforce control theory of graduate students, and helps to broaden students' horizons, to better understand and apply the nonlinear control theory.

Outcomes

The learning goals associated with this unit are to:

lmaster the analysis of general linear/nonlinear systems;

lmaster the principle of basic nonlinear control design;

lmaster the principle of several advanced nonlinear control design;

lunderstand the application of nonlinear control methods.

Attendance and homework: 20%; Term paper: 80%
